S. Chandra
Buona Vista, Singapore
Going through a divorce while managing work and two young children was overwhelming. The team at Kampong Legal helped me understand exactly what I was facing and what my options were — without making me feel rushed into any decision. They handled the filing efficiently and were always reachable when I had questions.

I needed help with a custody arrangement after my situation changed unexpectedly. Priya took the time to understand what my daughter's day-to-day life actually looked like before advising on a proposal. The process was longer than I had hoped, but the outcome felt genuinely fair to all involved.

The asset advisory work was thorough in a way I didn't expect. We had properties in both Singapore and Malaysia, and Ahmad mapped out what was likely to be included in the matrimonial pool very clearly. The settlement we reached was not simple, but the process felt well-managed throughout.

What I valued most was that no one ever made me feel like I was asking too many questions. I came in with very little understanding of how divorce proceedings work in Singapore and left each consultation with a clearer picture. The simplified divorce was handled without unnecessary delay.

I was initially hesitant about engaging a lawyer because I worried about costs spiralling. The team was upfront about fees from the beginning, which made a real difference. There were no surprises in the billing, and the contested custody matter was managed efficiently once things moved to court.

The asset division involved a business that my husband and I had built together, which made things particularly sensitive. The advisory was careful and honest about what a court would likely consider and how the contributions would be weighed. We reached a negotiated agreement that both sides could accept.

Some of the Situations We Have Helped Navigate
Details have been changed to protect the privacy of those involved. These illustrate the kinds of matters we regularly handle.
The Situation
A client in her early forties had been separated from her husband for just over three years following a period of increasing conflict. She had primary care of their two school-aged children and was concerned about maintaining stability in their routines during the divorce process.
Our Approach
We filed for divorce on the basis of three years' separation with consent and ran the proceedings in parallel with mediation on custody and maintenance. By keeping communication constructive and focused on the children's needs, we were able to reach a consent order without contested court appearances.
The Outcome
Divorce finalised within seven months. Joint custody was ordered with care and control vested in the mother and a structured access schedule agreed. Maintenance and the sale proceeds of the matrimonial flat were divided by consent. The children experienced minimal disruption to their schooling and routines.
"I didn't realise it was possible to handle something this significant without it becoming a prolonged legal battle. The approach made a real difference to how my children experienced this period."
The Situation
A client sought advice on the division of matrimonial assets following a twenty-year marriage. The asset pool included the HDB flat, a private investment property held jointly, shares in a small family business, and CPF savings. The other party had engaged their own solicitors.
Our Approach
We prepared a comprehensive asset schedule and contribution analysis, including both direct financial contributions and indirect homemaking contributions. We instructed a professional valuer for the business interest and negotiated directly with the opposing solicitors over a series of without-prejudice discussions.
The Outcome
A negotiated settlement was reached that reflected the client's substantial indirect contributions over two decades. The private property was sold with proceeds divided per the agreed formula. The business interest was bought out by the other party at the professionally assessed value. No contested hearing was required.
The Situation
Following a divorce that had been agreed amicably, a father sought a variation to the existing access order after his work schedule changed significantly and the original arrangement was no longer workable. The mother was not initially receptive to changes.
Our Approach
Rather than filing a variation application immediately, we suggested a structured mediation session through the Family Justice Courts' services. We prepared detailed documentation of the changed circumstances and the proposed revised schedule, framing the discussion around the child's interests and both parents' practical constraints.
The Outcome
An agreed variation was reached at mediation. The new schedule accommodated the father's revised working pattern and included provisions for holiday periods. A consent variation order was filed without the need for a contested hearing, saving both parties considerable time and cost.
