A Practice Built on Listening
Kampong Legal was founded in Singapore with a straightforward conviction: that families going through difficult transitions deserve legal support that is as attentive to their wellbeing as it is to the letter of the law. Our name recalls the kampong spirit — the close-knit sense of community and mutual care that remains a defining thread in Singapore's identity.
From our offices at Marina One, we work with individuals and families across a range of matrimonial matters — from divorce and separation to child custody and the division of matrimonial assets. The work is technical and detail-intensive, but it is also profoundly human. We hold both of these things in mind at every stage.
Our approach has always been to take time — time to listen, to understand the full context of each situation, and to advise with care. We do not believe in rushing clients toward decisions, nor in presenting legal options without also acknowledging what is at stake personally and emotionally.
Our Mission
To provide family law counsel in Singapore that holds both legal precision and human sensitivity in equal regard — supporting clients toward outcomes that reflect their circumstances with fairness and clarity.
Our Values
Patience, transparency, and respect inform everything we do. We believe that those seeking legal support for family matters deserve a space where they feel heard — not processed — and where advice is given with full consideration of their wider situation.

Our Practice
Family Law in Singapore: Our Perspective
Family law matters in Singapore are heard by the Family Justice Courts, which were established in 2014 to consolidate all proceedings related to families under one roof. The court takes a multi-disciplinary approach that draws on counselling, mediation, and legal adjudication — an approach we support through the way we prepare and represent our clients.
The Women's Charter remains the central legislative framework governing divorce and matrimonial proceedings for civil marriages in Singapore. Its provisions on divorce, maintenance, and the division of matrimonial assets form the backbone of most of our work. For Muslim marriages, proceedings are governed separately, and we are able to advise on the distinctions and, where appropriate, provide appropriate referrals.
Child matters in Singapore are considered with the welfare of the child as the paramount principle. This means that each case involving a minor requires careful, case-specific analysis rather than the application of formulaic outcomes. Our practitioners bring experience across a wide range of family structures and circumstances to these assessments.
Matrimonial asset division in Singapore follows a structured analytical approach developed by the courts over decades of case law. The identification of the asset pool, the assessment of both parties' direct and indirect contributions, and the application of relevant adjustments all require methodical, evidence-based work. We support clients through each stage of this process with the care it demands.
