You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in order to engage our services.
3. Description of Services
Kampong Legal provides family law and matrimonial legal services in Singapore, including but not limited to divorce and separation proceedings, child custody and access advisory, and matrimonial asset division advisory. Our services are provided by practitioners admitted to the Singapore Bar and regulated by the Law Society of Singapore.
The information provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. No solicitor-client relationship is formed by virtue of your use of this website alone.
4. User Responsibilities
When using our website or engaging our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when completing forms or communicating with our firm.
- Not use the website for any unlawful purpose or in any way that might damage, disable, or impair the website.
- Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems or services.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your use of our services.
- Maintain the confidentiality of any account credentials issued to you.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and design elements, is the property of Kampong Legal or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this website without our express written consent.
Any documents or advice provided to you in the course of an engagement are provided for your personal use in connection with that matter only and may not be reproduced or relied upon for any other purpose.
6. Payment Terms
Fees for our services are denominated in Singapore Dollars (SGD). Indicative starting fees are set out on our Solutions page. The final fee for your matter will be agreed in the engagement letter and will depend on the complexity and scope of the work involved.
Invoices are payable within fourteen (14) days of issue unless otherwise agreed. We accept payment by bank transfer and other methods as communicated at the time of engagement. We reserve the right to suspend services where invoices remain unpaid beyond thirty (30) days without prior agreement.
Our fee arrangements are discussed openly and transparently. If circumstances arise that are likely to affect the total cost of your matter, we will communicate this to you promptly.
7. Service-Specific Terms
Divorce & Separation Proceedings
Engagement for divorce proceedings covers the scope set out in the engagement letter. Court filing fees and related disbursements are charged separately at cost. Representation at hearings beyond those initially contemplated may attract additional fees, which will be communicated in advance.
Child Custody & Access
Advisory on custody matters reflects the circumstances and information provided by you at the time. We cannot predict or warrant any particular outcome in court proceedings, and the welfare of the child remains the court's paramount consideration independent of the advice we provide.
Matrimonial Asset Division Advisory
Asset advisory is based on the information and documents provided by you. Where professional valuation of assets is required, the cost of such services will be communicated and agreed separately. Advisory provided does not constitute a guarantee of any particular asset division outcome.
8. Disclaimers
This website and its content are provided on an "as is" basis. While we take reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of information on this website, we make no representations or warranties as to its completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.
Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, and no reliance should be placed on the general information here without first seeking advice in the context of your specific circumstances. The outcome of legal proceedings is subject to many factors outside our control, and we cannot warrant or represent any specific outcome.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with our services shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to us in the six months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising out of your use of this website or engagement of our services, including loss of business, loss of income, or loss of anticipated savings.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kampong Legal and its practitioners from and against any claims, damages, and costs arising out of your breach of these Terms and Conditions or your use of our services in a manner not authorised by these Terms.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate the engagement at any time by providing written notice. Where you terminate an engagement, fees for work completed up to the date of termination will be invoiced and are payable. Where we terminate, we will provide reasonable notice and take steps to minimise prejudice to your matter, in accordance with our professional obligations.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
We encourage informal resolution of any concerns in the first instance. If you have a concern about our services, please contact us at [email protected] and we will endeavour to respond within ten business days.
